Tonight's the night

I think tonight's a night that we will find out a lot about ourselves as a band. We're playing the soapbox with Last Year's Men and River City Extension. The crowd we will be playing for will be mostly comprised of people in their 20's that we do not know. It's exciting, but it's also a little nerve-wracking. When we step on that stage at 10:00, we have thirty minutes to win over people who have never heard us before, kind of a first experience for us as a band.

The wonderful Encore Magazine wrote a little bit about us in this week's issue, another first for us as a band.
‎"From our own hometown comes effervescent indie act, Villa Verde. Comprised of Dylan Wilkinson, Wesley Hewett, Joshua Sullivan, the band produces complex rhythms and catchy melodies. Villa Verde will surely attract attention as the opener of this Soapbox show, presented by Gravity Records."
Such kind words.

Also, we have some big news to be announcing soon. Stay tuned for Polaroid, and more!

Well, we're recording again.

Our single, Polaroid, is halfway through the recording process! We have the guitars and drums done for it so far. Recording ourselves has been a great experience so far, if at times frustrating. It gives us so much more freedom, though. We have all the time to do what we want with the song. What to expect:

Layered guitar tracks
Beautiful man vocals
More beautiful man vocals
Ghosts

If one or more of those things above interest you, then hopefully you'll love the song. Look for it over the next couple weeks!

Excitement

Excitement is the word of the day, children.

We have two incredible shows coming up. March 9th we're playing with River City Extension (amazing folk-rock band that has played Bonnaroo) and Last Year's Men (One of the most buzzed-about bands to come out of chapel hill in a long time). Both put on incredible live shows and make awesome music.

Then, on April 5, our pals Heyrocco are returning from Charleston to play with us and Rio Bravo at soapbox. Heyrocco helped us get off the ground while we were just starting so we have a special place in our hearts for those fellas. Not to mention that they make fantastic music. And with Rio headlining, it's sure to be a packed show.

oh, we're also recording drums on tuesday.

Excitement, kids, excitement.
